Jubilation In Ebonyi As Gov Nwifuru Approves N100,000 Christmas Package For Workers

There was jubilation at the Christian Ecumenical Center Abakaliki yesterday following the announcement and approval of a N100, 000 Christmas Package for workers of Ebonyi State by the State Governor, Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru.

The crowd that were at the Ecumenical Center to witness the flag off of the pet project of the Wife of the President, Sen Oluremi Tinubu went into jubilation when the Governor noted that the resources of the state belongs to the people and won’t be allowed to continue to suffer in poverty.

He maintained that he decided to take the hold step to ensure that workers of the State enjoy the Christmas celebration like their counterparts in other States of the Federation adding that the N100, 000 package is to ensure that the workers go home happy and celebrate the Christmas without difficulty.

“Though it is hard but we must do it. The workers of this state must live like others in this Christmas period. In this season you need to bless your neighbor, you need to be a blessing to your home.

“And as a leader of the state, it is necessary to be a blessing in the homes of everyone in this state. I am doing this because it is not my personal money, it is the money of the state that I am using, which I was elected to manage.

“I have resolved with the caucus and principal officers of government, since I came in, that workers in Ebonyi state should have something to celebrate. I’m going to have meeting with local government chairmen, and every worker in this state must get N100,000 naira as Christmas gift including a bag of rice.

Some of the Civil Servants interviewed commended the State Governor for the gesture adding that the money would go a long way in reducing the economic hardship occasioned by the hike in prices of product especially during this Christmas period.

A Civil Servant in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Chineyere Igwe maintained that since assumption of offices, Ebonyi people have been enjoying evidence of dividends of democracy adding that in the history of the State, civil servants have never enjoyed such Christmas Package before now.

She called on the Governor to sustain all his laudable welfare packages towards civil servants, pensioners and the vulnerable people in the society pointing out that he has exhibited human face since assumption of office.

In her remark, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru who Represented the wife of the President, Sen Oluremi Tinubu said that the scheme is targeted at supporting over two hundred and fifty vulnerable elderly citizens aged 65 and above in all the 36 states of the Federation.
