PDP jubilates as Tinubu appoints Former Commissioner And APC Chieftain,Oriaku as Federal Commissioner
Following the appointment of Hon. Obinna Oriaku , Monday as a Federal Commissioner In the Federal Character Commission, FCC, the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abraham Amah and some other members of the party have described his appointment as “well merited”.
A statement by Abia state PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah read in part:
“Although Chief Oriaku is not a member of our party, we recognize and celebrate merit wherever it is found.”
“Over the years, he has demonstrated admirable integrity, competence and unwavering commitment to public service”, said Amah.
Obinna Oriaku has been a regular critic of the administration of Governor Alex Otti since 2023, though the Present Government has always dismissed him as a beneficiary of the ” Abia Rot of over 24 years ” before leaving the PDP Where he served as commissioner for Finance Under Okezie lkpeazu’s Administration to join the APC.
Oriaku had also been trading words with media aides to Governor Otti concerning contract awards, contract execution, financial transparency, pensions and gratuities payment and liabilities, as well as foreign donor agencies.
But, the Present Government’s developmental strides in all sectors have continued to dwarf all oppositions especially from those who served under the previous PDP administrations judged by majority of Abians as underperformed while Governor Otti’s popularity continues to soar among the masses.
Apart from these, Oriaku has also been insisting that the past administration he served tried its best in managing Abia resources, a position faulted by the present administration.
However, the Abia state government had repeatedly urged Abia residents to ignore Oriaku’s regular articles, arguing that the past administration under which the former Finance Commissioner served underdeveloped Abia.
Recall that the former Abia State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Commissioner representing Abia in the Federal Character Commission.
His appointment was contained in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Monday.
