Abia State Governor Alex Otti has abolished the payment of promotion examination fees for public servants in the state, effective from the current 2022–2023 promotion exercise.

This announcement was made by the Abia State Head of Service, Mrs. Ngozi Queen Obioma, during a meeting with senior management staff of the Office of the Head of Service in Umuahia. She emphasized that the directive is now in effect.

Mrs. Obioma also urged civil servants eligible for the 2022 and 2023 promotions, conversions, and confirmations to visit the Office of the State Head of Service with two passport-sized photographs for registration between August 1 and 5, 2024.

She clarified that eligible participants for the written examinations include civil servants from Grade 10 and above, as well as those seeking conversion and confirmation.

The Abia State Head of Service cautioned that no civil servant should be required to make any payment during this promotion exercise, as this would violate the governor’s directive. She called on permanent secretaries, heads of departments, and agencies to ensure full compliance with this directive.
