Health Insurance: Gov Nwifuru Commits N200million For Informal Sector Participation

The Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru yesterday said that the State Government will bear all cost implication for the enrollment of all Civil Servants into the Scheme with effect from January 2024.
Governor Nwifuru also promised to commit the sum of #200, 000, 000 for the informal sector participation in the scheme next year.
Gov Nwifuru made the disclosure at the health insurance summit organized by the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency, EBSHIA at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki,
He noted that the move is to ensure that Ebonyi Civil servants get better health. The Governor was at the event decorated as the Health Insurance Ambassador by the Honourable Commissioner for Health.
In his presentation, the Executive Secretary of the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Divine Igwe said that the agency was created in 2018 to implement the state health insurance scheme.
“The scheme has enrolled 50,847 enrollees but the governor has approved the state health insurance counterpart fund for an additional 11,500 enrollees.
“Due to space, we selected 10 enrollees from the 171 wards in the state for the summit, making it 1,710 persons present here”.
