Five Dead As Building Collapses, Rep Member Condoles Family Of Victims

The Federal Lawmaker Representing Ukwa West and East Federal Constituency,Hon.Chris Nkwonta has expressed his heartfelt sympathy with the people of Obingwu-Asa,the Ukwa West Local Government Area and families of the victims of the three-story building that collapsed on Friday,7th June,2024, describing it as an unfortunate tragedy.

In a statement, the Lawmaker said that he was saddened by the catastrophe that has claimed five lives, particularly, his constituents, saying that the building collapse is yet another tragedy that has befallen the good people of Asa and has thrown them into mourning…

Hon Nkwonta commended the Abia State Government and the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area,Mr.Newman Azu for their swift response in evacuating the victims and for rescuing those trapped in the collapsed building,while urging the State government to ensure that builders and developers in the State, adhere strictly to building compliance and professionalism, to avoid future recurrence of such tragic developments.

He said “1 sympathize with the people of Obingwu-Asa,the good people of Ukwa West Local Government Area,parents and relations of the deceased,while wishing them God’s consolation in this time of grief and prayed God to grant the injured speedy and complete recovery”.
