Abia community celebrates Onyejeocha as contractors hand over new polytechnic

The people of Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state have hailed the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, for the completion and handing over of the temporary site of Federal Polytechnic, Isuochi (FPI) by contractors to the school’s management team.
The commendation came Friday during the handover ceremony at the school with members of the community and representatives from the education sector in attendance to observe ceremony and celebrate the project executed by Onyejeocha and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund).
A statement by the Minister’s Media Adviser, Emameh Gabriel, read that Chief (Elder) M.D. Ihegazie, who represented the Minister at the ceremony, spoke of the challenges faced in securing the institution for the constituency and the ultimate joy of seeing the project come to fruition through the effort of the minister during her stints as the Deputy Whip of the House of Representatives.
“Today is a special day in many ways,” Ihegazie said. “It marks the official handover of the renovated temporary site to the School Management Team. It is also very special because the dream and brain child of our leader, Honourable Barr. (Mrs) Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, of having a higher institution of learning in this constituency has come to fruition.”
The Minister commended the efforts of all involved in the project, including the contractors, the management team, and supporters.
“It is in the light of the above that we thank all individuals, corporate bodies, and organisations that have helped in one way or the other in making this dream a reality,” Ihegazie stated.
The new temporary site is expected to provide a conducive learning environment for students while the permanent campus is being constructed.
The Federal Polytechnic Isuochi is a new institution established in 2022 and is expected to play a key role in providing educational opportunities for the youth in the community as well as boosts the business atmosphere for the community and beyond.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Prince Uchenna Ezekwesiri expressed profound gratitude of the entire people of Isuochi to Onyejeocha for her effort in not just ensuring that the polytechnic was not only sited in Isuochi but also making sure that the necessary logistics were provided for the take off of the institution.
On his part, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. P. D. I Ndubisi, acknowledged the enormous contributions of Hon. Barrister Onyejeocha from all the process and subsequent approval by the Federal Government for the commencement of work at the permanent site, expressing confidence in the state government for support to facilitate the release of Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) for the permanent site.
