Troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted two Dangote trucks and three others allegedly transporting banned goods to the Republic of Cameroon.

The trucks, each loaded with 600 50kg bags of cement, were paraded to journalists at the Nigerian police headquarters in Yola, Adamawa state capital, on Friday.

The interception follows an executive order by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, prohibiting the transportation of building materials across the country’s border via Adamawa routes.

Speaking jointly, spokespersons for the governor and the police command, Humwashi Wonosikou and SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the trucks were intercepted a few kilometers before Jamtari, a border village between Nigeria and Cameroon.

Wonosikou emphasized the government’s stance against such actions, labeling them as unacceptable.

According to our correspondent , Nguroje highlighted the deployment of personnel throughout the state to enforce the government order.

However, officials from the Yola depot of Dangote Cement denied the products were destined for Cameroon, arguing it was a violation of their business rights.

Abiola Oyetunji, identified on the waybill as the contact person, expressed surprise that the trucks had left the depot without the goods being sold, contradicting the company’s protocol

Dangote Cement Plc, a Nigerian multinational cement manufacturer, headquartered in Lagos, operates as a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, founded by Aliko Dangote.
