Senator Adams Oshiomhole of Edo North has revealed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has previously held Senator Natasha Akpoti in high regard, even referring to her as the “princess of the Senate.”

Speaking during a plenary session covered by Symfoni TV, Oshiomhole directly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Senator Akpoti’s suspension. “I just want to appeal to distinguished Senator Mrs. Natasha Uduaghan, that everyone that has spoken cannot possibly be a coward or foolish,” Oshiomhole stated. “The truth of the matter is that the rules are binding and they are enforceable; they are potent.”

The former Edo State governor admitted he was initially puzzled by the Senate dispute: “I wasn’t in the Senate that day, but when I saw the fireworks on television, I thought it was something else. But I don’t know, because initially, I didn’t know what issues were. When I was told it’s about a change of seat, I was surprised.”

Drawing from personal experience, he added: “My seat has been changed as well, and the only thing that they could not do is to change my person and my values. And thank God, as President Tinubu has said repeatedly, no matter how short a man is, he can see the sky. So, my seat will change, but my views have not changed about anything that I want to speak on.”

Oshiomhole concluded with a direct appeal to Sen. Akpoti: “I think that is the beauty of democracy, and this is an appeal to Senator Natasha. You (Akpabio) even addressed her as the princess of the Senate; I think she can still remain the princess that she has been, provided she doesn’t miss that conclusion that is a mark of witness to admit when maybe, out of whatever feeling, that you have erred. The offense is not against the presiding officer; it’s a breach of the rules under which the affairs of this Senate are conducted.”
