FOLLOWING the ongoing construction of the famous Portharcourt road in Aba, residents of the commercial nerve city of the state have hailed the infrastructural revolution of the state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti especially in Aba over road constructions in the city.

The Portharcourt road in Aba has been a nightmare to residents of the area since the inception of the present political dispensation in 1999 and past administrations of the state all left the road deplorable and impassable.

The immediate past administration of Dr. Okezie lkpeazu awarded the contract for the construction of the road in 2017, destroyed many properties of people along the road but left it worst than it met it.

On assumption of office in May 29, 2023, the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti did the unbelievable by bringing in a renowned reputable giant Construction Company, Julius Berger Nig Plc for the first time in the history of the state and awarded the contract for the road.

For Aba residents, it was impossible until the company mobilised to the site and work started. The road that was overgrown with plants and heaps of Refuse Dumps instantly turned to a beauty and work has continued on daily basis on the road despite the rains.

When Topnewsngr visited the road yesterday and spoke to some residents of the area, their joy knew no bounds as they applauded, praised and prayed to God to bless the state Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti for coming to wipe away their agony and sorrows of over 25 years.

Topnewsngr discovered that work on that road has gone past Crystal Park junction of the road and work was ongoing with many equipments of the construction firm deployed to various segments of the project.

A businessman, Chief Alani Nwadinma was so emotional when he spoke to our correspondent. He said in tears of joy ” my brother the joy in my heart over the construction of this road knows no bound. l am still in shock as it looks like a dream to me”

He said ” my father brought me to Portharcourt Road in 1973 at the age of 18yrs to join him in his business and we owned our own property along this road. Then you can see taxis and buses plying along Portharcourt road well tarred but suddenly in earlier 90s the raod became deplorable and have been neglected and abandoned by all previous administrations”

He said ” the last administration destroyed our property along this road with a promise to reconstruct the road without any compensation but couldn’t and this also led to the death of my father as he couldn’t bear the lost and he eventually died coupled with old age”

” We have been praying to God to give us a Governor who can remember us and the emergence of Dr.Alex Otti was answered prayers and we are forever grateful to God for sending Dr.Alex Otti as our Governor in 2023″ he said.

According to chief Nwadinma, “businesses have for years collapsed along Portharcourt road and many residents have relocated while the elderly ones have left the city and others dead as a result of frustration. All our pleas to previous administrations to come and rescue us failed after all their promises to us using the road as a campaign tool but will forget us after their victory”

He said ” you can see what Julius Berger Nig Plc is doing on the road and even our people outside the country can’t believe it that’s why you see people on daily basis taking pictures on the road and sending to their people abroad because the Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti has done the impossible and God will continue to bless him with wisdom and good health because what he is doing in Aba roads is marvellous and unbelievable”

For Barr. Ekeke Udoji whose law chamber is located along Portharcourt road, ” Dr. Alex Chioma Otti is God’s sent to the people of the state and his works in just one year in office have superseded the past 23 years of the previous administrations and it is evident in all parts of the state not only Aba but across the three senatorial zones of the state as road constructions is ongoing simultaneously across the state”

He said ” For Aba residents what we have been yearning for in the past 23years, Alex Chioma Otti has come to our rescue with massive road constructions in the city of Aba and we are happy and will continue to support his administration until he completes his second term by the Grace of God”

Many other residents of the area applauded and praised Dr. Alex Chioma Otti for hitting hard on many bad Aba roads and giving the people Crystal clear and visible democratic dividends not based on sycophancy and false media hypes.

At the No. 1 Portharcourt road where Okada and Keke operators are assembled an attempt by Our correspondent to get their views was chorused ” Alex Otti will continue to be Governor of state until he’s old and tired”

When Topnewsngr correspondent tried to remind them of the constitutional provision of a second term for all elective Governors, they all also chorused ” that’s your business in your Nigeria. We have told you what we want and it will happen with or without your constitution”
