Our Synergy With Other Security Agencies Has Brought Relative Peace To Ebonyi Communities-Nwifuru’s Aide
The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security, Ivo Local Government Area, Hon Ike Cletus yesterday said that the synergy between the 13 Special Assistants to the Governor on Internal Security with the existing security agencies has brought peace, unity and relative crime free society to the state.
Hon Ike maintained that the synergy as handed over to them by the Governor is to forestall any impending security threats to the State by promptly reporting suspected security threats to the appropriate quarters.
“One of the major task before the Special Assistants on Internal Security is to ensure that we don’t upset the existing security architecture in the state but to complement it.
“On assumption of office on May, 2023, Gov Nwifuru appointed over 16 Special Assistants on Internal Security across the thirteen Council Areas, one for the Capital City and 2 SSAs for North and South Senatorial zones in the state.
“The security architecture as outlined by the Governor on inaugurating the Aides ranges from the Governor himself being the Chief Security Officer, the conventional security agencies, the Police, Army, DSS among others, the State Commissioner for Internal Security, the Zonal SSA’s on Internal Security, the Local Government SA’s on Internal Security, the Council Chairmen to the vigilante groups who work directly with the Security Aides.
Hon Ike noted that the Governor equally granted the SA‘s on Internal Security express permission to report security matters directly to him adding that the decision is to avoid unnecessary protocol or bureaucratic bottlenecks in the discharge of their statutory duties.
“This innovative security arrangement, no doubt, has brought about relative peace in all the local government areas in the state.
“There is a robust synergy between the SA’s on Internal Security and other security agencies in the state. Also, the SA’s on Internal security are responsive, proactive and collaborates with critical stakeholders in their security engagements.
He noted that the Special Assistants on Internal Security are constantly admonished to continue to operate within the confines of their statutory duties.
“Governor Nwifuru made it categorically clear during the inauguration of the SAs on Internal Security that they are not allowed to bear arms but to report any security breaches to the Governor himself or to the conventional security agencies for prompt necessary actions.
“it’s imperative to point out that security is everybody’s business. All well-meaning Ebonyians and her residents must join hands with the Governor to sustain the prevailing peace in the state.
“Both private individuals and corporate organizations are cordially invited to support Governor Nwifuru’s huge investment of humongous human and material resources in rejigging the security architecture of the state in their own different areas of operations.
He expressed the regret that some uninformed individuals had criticized the innovative of Governor Nwifuru in inaugurating the SAs on Internal Security.
Is is unfortunate that some uninformed and unprogressive persons criticized the well thought out security arrangements of the Governor and tagged it as a duplication of the jobs of conventional security agencies but today, the positive results are not only obvious, but quite appealing even to its strongest critics.
