Woman kills husband, disappears with only child in Abia

As other Nigerians prepare in frenzy, the ushering in of this year’s Christmas season amid hardships, Umuamoke Ngwaoma community (Owerreaba), in Ugwunagbo Council Area of Abia State, is in mourning over the killing of one of their kinsmen, by his wife.
She was also said to have allegedly disappeared without trace, with their daughter.
Our correspondent exclusively gathered that the deceased, whose name was given as Chinwendu, alias Brother Keke, due to his trade as a commercial tricycle operator, was a habitual drunkard and had always indulged in beating up his wife, Ezinne, at random on returning from the day’s business.
The development, according to witnesses, had led the woman, said to be from Item, Bende area of the state, to threaten leaving him to find accommodation in another area of Aba town, where she would live peacefully with their only daughter, Chinwendu.
Our source, said it was on this premise of this that on returning home fully intoxicated, on Tuesday evening, Brother Keke, pounced on his wife, beating her without any reason and in trying to fend him off in retaliation, Ezinne, punched Chinwendu, into unconsciousness and quickly took her belongings and vanished with her daughter.
A close relation and member of the village community vigilante group, told our correspondent, that on being alerted about the family scuffle, they (members) went to the house only to see Chinwendu’s lifeless body where he had fallen into, with no trace of the wife and their daughter.
The relation, who refused to make his name public, said it was later discovered that the wife had vanished with no trace, taking her belongings and their only daughter.
“We have observed his beating up his wife severally, for no just reason, and warned him to desist in the past.”
“The community does not encourage any one misbehaving but it has now led to loss of life,” which is regrettable.”
The community vigilante man, said the matter had been reported to Ugwunagbo division of the Nigeria Police while the corpse was deposited in a morgue in the area.
