NASS Member, NEMA Distribute Relief Materials To Over 2000 Flood Victims In Ebonyi

The Member Representing, Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Hon Chinedu Ogah in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to over 2000 flood victims in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The flood victims according to Hon
Ogah cut across 31 political wards and 497 polling units in the local government who in 2022 had their farmlands, house and other belongings destroyed by the flood that ravaged the communities rendering then homeless.
The items distributed includes, hundreds of bags of rice, beans and garri. Others include, sachets of maggi, hundreds of plastic buckets, cups, forms and Matt among others.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the Distribution, Hon Ogah who is the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Reformatory Institutions said that the materials are aimed at cushioning the effects of the economic hardship the victims might be going through.
“The masses are my strength; they are the people that elected me. They gave me the confidence; that is why anything that concerns them concerns me the most.
“I thank Mr President, Bola Tinubu; the Vice President Shettima; and the Chief of Staff to Mr President, Mr Gbajabiamila, for making this possible. I also thank the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru for being considerate and allowing the National Assembly and NEMA to approve of this.
“Nwifuru is a man with a large heart, and I commend him for that.
Earlier, The Representative of the Southeast Zonal office of NEMA, Mr Nnaynelugo Ezeani said that there is the need for continuous sensitization in various communities to ensure that people are properly educated on emergency related situations, thereby reducing the effects of the disaster.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to journalists commended Hon Ogah for always coming to their rescue and called for government intervention to mitigate the reoccurring of the disaster.
One of them, a visually impaired woman, Mrs. Nweke Victoria, said that the relide material will go a long way in putting food on their table and called for more assistance as the economic situation in the country is becoming harder.
